The weasel
in the sack (5-6 Klassen)
Algernon
and Marmaduke travel for many days, until they meet a beggarwoman. They are
very rude to her, and kick her. The beggarwoman tells them that there is a
dragon in the village, and if they defeat it they will get a room full of gold;
but if they lose the fight against the dragon, they must work for it for seven years. Algernon and Marmaduke fight the
dragon and lose. A year
later, Fred sets out to try to find some money for her mother. She travels for
many days and meets the beggarwoman. She tries to help the beggarwoman, and
gives her all her money. The beggarwoman
tells her about the dragon, and tells her how to defeat it by playing a
tune on her flute. Fred does this, and makes the dragon promise never to be
nasty again. She sends her two brothers home with some gold for their mother,
while she celebrates with the villagers.
Algernon and Marmaduke arrive home and pretend that they have
defeated the dragon and won the gold. When Fred arrives, they tie her up in a
sack, and plan to throw her into the lake. The beggarwoman rescues Fred, and
then tells Fred that she is really a queen, and Fred is her bug-lost daughter.
They make Algernon and Marmaduke get into the sack, and they tickle them and
make them promise never to be nasty again. |

BDS and the adventure of the faceless ghost (7-8 Klassen) 1. Brief
summary of the play 1.Our
heroes, the BDS detective agency - Billy Brainie, Deidre Dairing and Snuffles
the dog - introduce themselves with a song 2.They visit Miss Edith Blightwell (aged 90) for tea and muffins. She tells them that all her pets (a canary, a hamster and a goldfish) have died. She doesn‘t feel very well herself. Our heroes promise to investigate. They talk to the audience, and agree on a plan of action. They plan to begin by looking at the neighbours. 3. The next-door neighbour is a dump for nuclear waste - but the audience and Snuffles are the only ones who understand the danger. Our heroes, ignorant of the meaning of the black-and-yellow radioactivity signs, climb through the fence and look for clues. They see a “faceless ghost“ (a site worker in a white protection-suit) and are very scared. Snuffles runs away in terror. 4. Billy and Deidre try to find a way into the building to look for Snuffles. They build a pile of radioactive barrels to try to get onto the roof. Billy falls off and gets captured by the “faceless ghost”, who takes him inside the building. 5.Deidre,
left on her own, asks the audience for advice. They suggest that she runs away
to fetch the police. Meanwhile Billy is questioned by a woman (the Environment
Minister) who says that she is a witch. She tells him that the place is very
dangerous, and that he must never go there again. She leaves Billy alone for a
moment. 6.Snuffles
comes out of hiding, and boy and dog happily greet each other. The “faceless
ghost“ comes in. Billy is very scared, but Snuffles bites the “ghost‘ in the
leg. The figure curses and runs off - but Billy has seen enough to realise that
it is no ghost, but a man in a strange costume. Billy realises that the
Minister is trying to keep him from discovering a secret in the building: so he
and Snuffles go in to investigate. 7.The scene
changes to the police station. Constable Proon introduces himself with a song.
Deidre arrives and tells him the whole story. He goes with Deidre to the
nuclear dump. The Minister lets them in. Billy dresses up in the white
protection-suit and enters, with evidence that the pets died of radio-active
poisoning. Scared by the “ghost“, the Minister admits everything. Inspector
Proon tells the minister off for being responsible for the deaths of the pets.
The minister agrees to close the nuclear waste dump. All can live happily ever
after, and the nuclear waste will be stored.... somewhere else. 8.The
Minister and Constable Proon leave. Our heroes are reunited with Snuffles and Miss
Blightwell (who has been given new pets by the government). The play ends with a song.
Billy at the last moment asks the question: where is the nuclear waste to be |
